Blount disease

a condition causing bow-legs as a result of abnormal growth at the epiphysis at the top of the tibia (shin bone). It is more common in Africans and is most noticeable in childhood. The condition may affect one or both legs, and affected children are often obese. Treatment depends upon the severity and the age of the child but usually involves surgery.
