Ri·de·al-Walk·er test ri-'dē(ə)l-'wȯ-kər- n a test for determining the phenol coefficient esp. of a disinfectant
Rideal Samuel (1863-1929), and
Walker J. T. Ainslie (1868-1930)
British chemists. Rideal taught chemistry and was an expert on the purification of water and sewage. He wrote extensively on food preservation, disinfection and disinfectants, and public water supplies. Rideal and Walker introduced their method for testing disinfectants in 1903.
