The most dangerous type of malaria caused by a parasite that is highly resistant to most anti- malarial drugs. Complications can include coma, jaundice, renal failure, hypoglycemia, acidosis, severe anemia, high parasite count, and hyperpyrexia. Treatment is in a hospital setting using
