Reduviidae

A family (order Hemiptera) of predatory insects, the assassin bugs, which attack animals and humans. It includes the subfamily Triatominae, the kissing or cone-nosed bugs, whose type genus Triatoma includes species that are vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi.

Re·du·vi·i·dae (re″du-viґĭ-de) a family of winged hemipterous insects of the suborder Heteroptera, including various biting species called cone-nose bugs, kissing bugs, and assassin bugs. Many have painful bites, and some species transmit Chagas disease. Genera include Eratyrus, Eutriatoma, Melanolestes, Panstrongylus, Reduvius (type genus), Rhodnius, and Triatoma.
