ochratoxin

A mycotoxin produced by Aspergillus ochraceus growing on stored cereal grains. Affects poultry and other animals fed the grain.

ochra·tox·in (oґkrə-tok″sin) any of a group of mycotoxins produced by Aspergillus ochraceus and certain species of Penicillium, sometimes found contaminating grains, peanuts, and green coffee beans. It has been implicated in cases of hepatic carcinoma and Balkan nephritis. The most common and the most toxic is ochratoxin A, which causes ochratoxicosis.
