Shwartzman reaction generalized

a generalized reaction following two intravenous injections of endotoxin separated by 24 hours; it is characterized by widespread hemorrhages, bilateral cortical necrosis of the kidneys, and a marked fall in leukocyte and platelet counts and usually results in death of the animal.
