Bacillaceae

A family of aerobic or facultatively anaerobic, sporeforming, ordinarily motile bacteria (order Eubacteriales) containing Gram-positive rods. These organisms are chemoheterotrophic. Some species are pathogenic. Ordinarily two genera, Bacillus and Clostridium, are included. The type genus is Bacillus.

Ba·cil·la·ceae (bas″ĭ-laґse-e) a family of bacteria of the order Bacillales made up of endospore-forming rods and cocci. The mostly gram-positive organisms are usually soil saprophytes, but a few are insect or animal parasites and may produce disease. Medically important organisms are included in the genus Bacillus.
