Gossypium
- Gos·syp·i·um (gŏ-sipґe-əm) [L.] cotton; a genus of tropical and subtropical plants of the family Malvaceae. Three species, G. barbadenґse, G. herbaґceum, and G. hirsuґtum, yield most of the commercial cotton and are also sources of cottonseed and cottonseed oil.
