chronic kidney disease
- renal insufficiency; symptoms may include polyuria, anorexia or nausea, dehydration, and neurological symptoms. Stage 1 involves a minimally decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Stage 2 has a GFR of 60 to 89. Stage 3 has a moderately decreased GFR (30 to 59). Stage 4 has a severely decreased GFR (15 to 29). Stage 5 has a GFR below 15 (end-stage renal disease), and patients require dialysis. Called also chronic renal failure.
